From Which Medical Device

Deltex Medical's CardioQ–ODM oesophageal Doppler monitor is a minimally-invasive technology that uses an oesophageal probe to measure velocity of blood flow in the descending aorta. ODM-guided blood flow management has been shown to lead to reductions in the length of critical care and in-hospital stay.

In March 2011 the UK’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended the CardioQ-ODM for adoption within the NHS, advising that the CardioQ-ODM should be considered for use in patients undergoing major or high-risk surgery, or for other surgical patients who may require invasive cardiovascular monitoring.
