Description

From Which Medical Device

The MitraClip system is a catheter-based therapy designed to reduce mitral regurgitation (MR). The guide catheter is inserted into the femoral vein to reach the heart, then using the catheter the clip delivery system deploys the MitraClip device which is attached directly to the mitral valve. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia without the use of a heart-lung machine, and post-procedure recovery is typically one to three days.

MHRA Medical Device Alert March 2013
