Impact factor: 54

This is a huge waste of money. About 30-40 independent research studies have shown that this device is simply not accurate. The error, in our estimation, is around 60%, but other researchers have put it at or above 80% error. It doesn\'t even reliably indicate the direction of change of stroke volume and cardiac output, never mind show good sensitivity to change so that you could use it for fluid challenge to measure responsiveness. Surely the scientists at Edwards know this is wildly inaccurate so why is it still being marketed? This has serious potential to do harm to patients in my opinion, and any responsible company would act appropriately by not selling this. I wonder if British and American Tobacco could get away with something like this these days?
