From Which Medical Device

X-Seal is an investigational device in the US and not available for sale.

Essential Medical, Inc. has developed this femoral artery closure device intended to seal femoral punctures following vascular access medical procedures requiring a cardiac catheterisation.

X-Seal is designed for smaller bore arterial punctures following procedures such as angiography, angioplasty and stenting which, according to the manufacturer, constitute the large majority of patients treated via arterial cathetersation. They say that the X-Seal is ‘anchor/plug’ sealing technology which uses absorbable biomaterials with the advantage of x-ray visibility and improved deployment control.
