Started using US guidance recently (around 10 now) and have found the foot plate catching on atheroma atleast twice. Gently advance under guidance and rock the angioseal side to side to free the footplate and visualise the footplate anchoring to the anterior wall before deploying.

I have no doubt I would\'ve lifted the plaque on both occasions if following blind technique.

Unless the artery is completely free of atheroma I now use ultrasound guidance for deploying Angioseal.
