Description

From Which Medical Device

The F3 fragment plating system from DePuy is a collection of titanium alloy locking plates which allow in-situ contouring, and are therefore suited to smaller bones in the distal extremities, particularly the foot and ankle. The plates come with preloaded drill guides (known as Fixed Angle Screw Targeting, or FAST) which provide purchase for bending instruments and are removed after drilling and before the insertion of a locking screw. Plates come in High-Flex (3-dimensional contouring) or High-Strength (2-dimensional contouring) variants and in straight, Y and sided L shapes.

The device has been developed by Hand Innovations, a subsidiary of DePuy which it acquired in 2006.
