Robotic Device Assists Surgeons During Knee Resurfacing Procedures

Mass Device reports that UK based orthopaedic device manufacturer, Stanmore Implants, has achieved FDA approval for the Sculptor Robotic Guidance Arm.
According to a press release from Stanmore the system uses a robotic guidance arm to assist surgeons' operation of cutting tools during partial knee resurfacing procedures. It is one of a suite of devices and software systems that the company produces for personalised orthopedic implants.
Stanmore says it will release the system in a limited number of hospitals starting in mid-2013.
