A PR Newswire article hosted by redorbit.com reports that Surefire Medical’s Surefire Infusion System device for chemo and radioembolisation procedures will be immediately launched into Europe now that the product has CE Mark approval.

According to the manufacturer's press release, the device provides interventional radiologists with improved embolisation certainty during their infusion procedures and the system could offer advantages over a standard microcatheter, throughout Europe.

Apparently, in a recent retrospective study of 29 patients, infusion of therapeutic agent with the Surefire Infusion System showed no angiographic evidence of reflux and no clinical evidence of non-target embolisation. Plus, CT imaging in chemoembolisation patients suggested a pattern of increased microsphere tumor penetration and contrast retention.

The Surefire Infusion System received FDA clearance in June, last year.
