From Which Medical Device

The ADEPT hip resurfacing from Finsbury is an as-cast metal on metal system, which includes a tapered femoral stem, and a cast-in hydroxyapatite and beaded coating on the socket. Finsbury also manufacture the MITCH resurfacing system and the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. The Extra Fixation socket has a plate for additional screw fixation.

The device was the second most implanted in the England and Wales National Joint Registry in 2008, with 14% of the market, and has an ODEP 3A rating. The 5 year revision rate in this report was 5.0% (range 3.1 to 8.0%), compared to 4.3% (3.8% to 4.9%) for the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing, and 12.0% (9.3% to 15.4%) for the ASR hip resurfacing.

The head was manufactured by Finsbury Orthopaedics which was acquired by DePuy in December 2009. The devices were commercially available from Finsbury or DePuy from 2004 – Sept 2011 after which, the heads were acquired by MatOrtho Ltd.
