Guide wires
This tight ureteric stricture required a micro wire (Meister 0.018") and microcatheter to cross. This was then upsized to a 0.035" system to allow balloon dilatation (presumed ischaemic stricture) and stenting. It is very unusual to need a 0.018" systemt to cross ureteric strictures, but it can be very useful. I saw this wire demonstrated at CIRSE 2016. This short video compares (crudely) its torquability with a terumo micro wire. Clearly there are other factors involved in selecting which micro wire you would use for a procedure, but this does illustrate one aspect quite well.
