From Which Medical Device

The Paladin carotid postdilation angioplasty balloon system has been designed for patients undergoing carotid stenting procedures.

According to the manufacturer, the system improves outcomes by reducing the risk of embolisation during postdilation, when the patient has the highest risk of embolic events. The single-step system integrates a postdilation balloon proximally and an embolic protection filter at the distal catheter tip. Before postdilation, an adjustable 40-μm filter is deployed which provides protection against macro- and microembolic debris.
