Distal ureteric injury and the leak was not controlled with 10F nephrostomy, 8F double J stent and urinary catheter. Leak well controlled with 7mm 12cm BCM HILZO ureteric stent.

I have used this device. It is easy to deploy. Early impressions are that the clinical success rate is high and the migration rate is low. Very useful in malignant disease with a prognosis of less than 12 months. Very effective at controlling a post operative urine leak from a damaged ureter. Similar design to the Uventa but has less radial force at the end of the device so should reduce the incidence of endothelia hyperplasia and is licensed for removal/exchange.
