We used the Amplatzer Plug 4 for embolisation in the case of a renal AV fistula. A RDC Terumo destination sheath was placed to the renal artery and a 4F cobra catheter (with an 0.038 lumen) used to selectively catheterize the segmental artery. The segmental artery to be embolised was very tortuous and the Amplatzer Plug 4 easily tracked along the catheter. After deployment there was cessation of flow within a few minutes.

The Amplatzer Plug 4 was ideal in this case. It was quick, effective and allowed precise placement in tortuous anatomy. It eliminated the concern of using coils, which in this case may have potentially embolised into the venous circulation in this high flow fistula.

Used these recently to exclude a splenic artery aneurysm (too tortuous for a stent graft). Worked very well although they're almost invisible except the marker and you need to take care that the .038 catheter you've used will actually accomodate the device.
