The StabiliT Vertebral Augmentation System contains a second important component: A special bone cement, StabiliT ER2 bone cement, whose viscosity is increased by warming using radiofrequency energy. This cement, prior to exposure to RF energy has a working time of over 30 minutes. Its controlled delivery is performed by remote control reducing radiation exposure to the physician. A device specially developed for this purpose, the MultiPlex Controller controls the emission of radiofrequency energy required (depending on room temperature) to maintain a consistent high viscosity and delivery of a precisely defined amount of ultra-viscous bone cement using a hydraulic feed.
