This device is excellent for PCNL. I have only had couple of occasions where I used the serial metal dilators to dilate the nephrostomy tract as I could not get a guide wire beyond the target calyx (one being a calyceal diverticulum that had calculi within it). It also dilates pre-existing fibrotic tissue with ease. I find the inflated balloon extremely sturdy making the passage of the access sheath easy. Compared to another balloon dilator for PCNL, I found the X-force better and this is what I have been using for the past 3 years. Perhaps those who do not use the X-force may consider trying it out.
