I have used the Aquarius CRRT machine for many years on Critical Care.
It can perform all forms of CRRT, including SCUFF, CVVH, CVVHDF, CVVHD and also Plasma Exchange, I also find it easy to change therapy whilst it’s in treatment.
The machine is easy to set up and prime with step by step on screen instructions and colour coordinated lines.
It incorporates a fluid warmer and anti-coagulant pump.
The Aquarius has continuous on screen monitoring of pressures to help manage treatment effectively and is easy to navigate between screens.
It has audible and visual alarms with the cause of the alarms displayed.
Baxter provided a very good education and support package initially which also continues several years later.
The only disadvantage is the hanging and changing of the filtrate and substitution bags on the scales, these are heavy and often requires the nurse to kneel to get under the machine.
