Whilst I generally feel that total shoulder arthroplasty provides better and more particularly young and active, and I am concerned about bone stock.
I have used both the Global CAP and Copeland resurfacings as a trainee, and have come to prefer the CAP. I find the sizing and instrumentation intuitive in the CAP system: the diameter and height are directly measured, and the triple reamer allows a single reaming with a stop to shape the head.
The theoretical ability to replace the glenoid with Global AP implants is attractive, but generally difficult if the head is not resected, and not something I have done.
Admittedly there are not long term data to support the CAP per se, but it is in widespread use and I think that the data available for other resurfacing implants will apply to the CAP.
