Description

From Which Medical Device

According to the manufacturer, the Vivasure large-hole closure device is used at the end of large-bore catheter primary interventions such as endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The device percutaneously delivers a fully absorbable implant to seal the arteriotomy site. It is delivered over-the-wire and through a procedural sheath to access the vessel and arteriotomy.

They say that the implant does not utilise sutures or collagen, and is used to treat arteriotomies in the common femoral artery. This vascular closure product is designed specifically to close large arteriotomies (up to 24F).

The closure device is the first product from the company's patented PerQseal™ technology platform, and is the only approved bioabsorbable, sutureless and fully synthetic option to close large arteriotomies, which result from percutaneous transcatheter procedures.

The manufacturer announced on 8th January 2016 that the Vivasure now has CE Mark approval - you can read the press release here.
