Dr Phil Haslam, Which Medical Device Editor-in-Chief, took a look at BTG's Visual-ICE system at the BSIR 2017 annual scientific meeting held in Birmingham's ICC UK) in November. It's a mobile system intended for cryoablative tissue destruction using a minimally invasive procedure.
A mobile console with a large HD touch screen user interface controls the circulation of high-pressure gases through closed-tip cryoablation needles connected to the system. The needles can thaw ice without the use of helium and real-time temperature monitoring, through thermal sensors connected to the system, enables a clinician to help protect critical anatomy.
