Description

From Which Medical Device

Distal interlocking of femoral nails is essential - but time consuming. Typically the surgeon has been forced to do this freehand with the help of an x-ray C-arm. In response to the request of surgeons around the world, Stryker Osteosynthesis has created a dedicated Distal Targeting System. Stryker’s Gamma 3 targeting device has revolutionised the way distal targeting is performed. This device has not only reduce operating time but also reduce the radiation  exposure to operating theatre team.

The major components of the device are made of carbon fiber material, providing radiolucency under the C-Arm imaging while remaining light weight and easy to handle. There have been many other trials at creating a distal targeting device, but only has been successful in beaing reliable, easy to use and cost effective.

Our Specialist Editor for Orthopaedics & Trauma said, "I have personally used this device on several occasions and it never failed to impress me with the accuracy and simplicity which come very handy when performing the last step of what could be a long tiring operation."
