'Bespoke' Implants to Replicate Natural Joint Shape

Medgadget reports that medical device manufacturer ConforMIS has announced the commercial availability of its next generation iTotal G2 Knee Replacement System. Medgadget previously reported on the ConforMIS’ iTotal CR knee replacement system which they describe as 'the only patient-specific total knee replacement available on the market today'.

They say that the iTotal G2 incorporates improvements based on surgeon feedback on the implants, instrumentation and patient specific planning guides.

Apparently, ConforMIS’ iFit technology maps a diseased joint using CT imaging to define the natural shape of the femoral and tibial components and enable the production of 'bespoke' implants.
