Mass Device reports that UK based orthopaedic device manufacturer, Stanmore Implants, has achieved FDA approval for the Sculptor Robotic Guidance Arm.

According to a press release from Stanmore the system uses a robotic guidance arm to assist surgeons' operation of cutting tools during partial knee resurfacing procedures. It is one of a suite of devices and software systems that the company produces for personalised orthopedic implants.

Stanmore says it will release the system in a limited number of hospitals starting in mid-2013.
