The San Antonio Business Journal reports how BiO2 Medical's first triple lumen Angel Catheter, sold to a hospital in the UK, has already helped to save the life of a patient in ICU at the establishment. The device is designed to prevent pulmonary embolism in critically ill patients.

The article says that according to the manufacturer, over 25,000 people die each year from hospital-related blood clots; in the US between 200,000 and 300,000 people die annually from pulmonary embolism.
