Research shows lower adverse-events for drug-eluting stents than bare metal stents in patients over 85

A report published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology has observed lower adverse-event rates associated with drug-eluting stents (DES) versus bare metal stents (BMS) in older patients.

This national study compared the effectiveness of DES versus BMS among patients aged 85 or over undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
