Videos | Islet Cell Transplantation in 13 minutes | Which Medical Device
Having done two of these in a week I thought it was time to make another video of the technique. This is essentially a PTC but with access into the portal vein. The islets are then infused under gravity and they settle in the liver and produce insulin. The real science is in the preparation of the islet suspension to make them suitable for infusion.
