This shows the jugular approach to the left gonadal vein to place two Spirale coils for varicocoele embolisation. The jugular approach is direct and relatively short. A straight forward embolisation takes 10 minutes. Dr Phil Haslam Consultant Interventional Radologist
Varicocele embolisation using Balt Spiral Coils. This shows the right jugular approach for embolisation of the left gonadal vein. Often one spirale coil is sufficient. Dr Phil Haslam, Consultant Interventional Radiologist Dr Hazel Halbert, specialist registrar in radiology.
This video demonstrates our technique for left varicocoele embolisation. The patient was 24yrs old and had a large painful varicocoele. We generally use long Spirale coils (Balt) 8x300mm or 10x400mm.
