They are based on the F3 locking plate principles with added strength and new designs. Second and third tarso-metatarsal plate is bridged to add additional strength. This feature however rules out the single second or third tarso-metatarsal fusion.

Locking second and third metatarsal plate theoretically could stop individual joint movement at the more proximal joints. The single joint fusion plates i.e. old F3 DePuy plates preserve these mechanisms.

Medial plating of medial cuneiform and first meta-tarsal base is a bit of worry considering the anatomy of dorsalis pedis artery.
