I like the Variable-angle locking system,because it gives the surgeon more choice in plate placement.

Good instrument tray well designed plate and screw. 15 degrees variable locking angle good to position screws 2.7, 3.5 & 4mm osteopenic locking and unlocking screws allows good plate fixation in a variety of bone pathologies.

Plates could do the compression at required bone ends but large amount of compression with locking screws could cause distraction on the far cortices.

Plate locking mechanism may not work if there is no space left between plate and hard cortical bone.
