This video demonstrates insertion of the Edwards Sapien transcatheter heart valve . This was a difficult case due to the presence of a prosthetic mitral valve. There was a significant risk of the new aortic valve compromising the function of the mitral valve if insertion was not in precisely the correct position. Ballon inflation across the aortic valve certainly caused valve malfunction and this is excellently demonstrated on the TOE which was used throughout the procedure to aid correct valve placement.
